Rustic Mornings had its soft re-opening recently but you wouldn’t know it based on the long waiting line outside. This restaurant, after all, has a decade long culinary legacy and diners have welcomed its return with much gusto. The new and bigger location sits just across from the old one and has the same artsy, eclectic, quirky vibe.

It’s a tropical forest of sorts with lush greens and potted plants in the middle,  covered patios on both sides plus odd and ends displayed on shelves and hanging form the ceilings. All of the kitschy copper kitchenware, shell curtains, and ceramic knick  knacks come from the collection of the owner’s mother, the late painter Stephanie Baluyut, to whom the restaurant holds as its forever inspiration. The mosaic blue, white, and red tiled wall has roses in bloom  and serves as another ode to Mom. A big event hall is under construction at the far end and is already looking like the perfect venue for celebrations.

The prodigious all-day brunch menu boasts of mouthwatering choices shown alongside enticing food photos. Everything looks AND (as we discovered for ourselves) tastes even better. You must know that majority of the dishes are made from scratch and are served in large portions. This is a place for people with big appetites! Servers are very accommodating and will tell you the bestsellers from each section.

Diners can’t get enough of Rustic Mornings’ big brunch servings.

We love the mushroom soup with toast bread, the spinach & arugula salad with apples, candied walnuts, bleu cheese and RM’s vinaigrette, and the signature spinach and artichoke dip. Best known for its waffles and pancakes, the waffle, breaded chicken with salad and  french toast, egg, bacon, sausage  are solid choices. Meanwhile, the Filipino platter tray (served with four eggs done to your liking plus bangus, tapa, tocino and sinangag) is great for sharing but you must add an extra of the juicy and oh-so-flavorful longganisa to attain brunch Nirvana. For dessert, the chocolate lava, key lime pie and frozen brazo de Mercedez make it to the top of our list. Diners can likewise enjoy healthy  fruit shakes (Tropical Blend and Super Juice),  milk shakes (Choco Nutella and Pure Avocado with Pearls), and coffee after their big meals.
